FKOW Sheung Wan Store Opening

Thank you everyone for coming to our store opening last week! From lion-dancing, ribbon-cutting, FKOW dishes cooking, to yellow wine drinking, we enjoyed every second of the day wholeheartedly and we cannot thank you more for that.

We started the day making duck soup from our family recipe and pan-frying the sexy sausages we co-created with local NGO More Good, from the smell of that we knew it was going to be one hell of a fun, delicious and wholesome day.

The lion-dancers came with our roasted pig and we all got even more excited – It’s very rare to have lion-dancing for store opening nowadays, and all our friendly neighbors around Dried Seafood Street (海味街) came to check out what’s going on, we gave them our OG Fukien Cocktail as a welcome drink.

We poured our hearts and soul into making the space as exciting and warm as possible, while keeping traditional Fujian and Hokkien elements such as its colour palette, dark wood and subtle gold finishings. 

It was exciting, passionate, witty with the most inspiring sense of curiosity. Nothing beats the fun of immersing into an experiential concoction of old and new, especially when all the shops have been up and running for at least 3 generations.

Apart from the sense of excitement, we wanted to transport everyone back to their grandmas’ home — the youthful appreciation and enthusiasm in her food.

Not only did the space smell of home-cooking, we also made recipe cards for guests to bring home the warm, tingling sensation of family cooking. It is an impeccable mix of our core elements: Family, Food and Fun.

We envisioned it to be fun and wholesome, but it went beyond our expectations.
